The Problem in Europe

Pythagorean theorem : 24 words
Lord’s prayer : 66 words
Archimedes’ Principle : 67 words
Ten Commandments : 179 words
Gettysburg address : 286 words
US Declaration of Independence : 1,300 words
US Constitution with all 27 Amendments : 7,818 words

EU regulations on the sale of cabbage : 26,911 words

I have to admit that according to snopes.com the the line “EU regulations on the sale of cabbage” is not based on fact. This was made up by someone to be an example of excessive government regulation and you can find different versions of this statement all over the internet. However, I do know that HR 3200 “Obamacare” is over 2000 pages long. I didn’t try this myself but supposedly you can export the official document into a Word processor and the word count on it will be something like 300,000 words. Obviously this is a more complex topic than the sale of cabbage but it is fair to say that the bill is probably too complicated.
